 Yes you read right leather, but this time it is warm weather leather. The difference between cold

weather leather and warm weather leather is its thickness. For Spring 2013 designers are able to treat

very thin leather as a fabric and play around with flirty cuts, feminine silhouettes and even in some

cases draping it. Choose spring colors from cream to a yellow or even a pastel lavender to give it that

spring touch. For a more balance look pair it with something more airy and feminine such as lace.

 

The theme for what is considered the Oscar of fashion, the Met Gala, was Punk. An iconic British trend of rebellion, considered the anti fashion of its time, can be a bit of a challenge for to translate to a red carpet look. A few designers literally followed the trend while others interpreted punk in their own way. Here is how our designers did Punk for the 2013 Met Gala.

When you are over the pencil skirt and want something more fun and girly, a line skirt is an amazing option. An A-line skirt is great to make a casual outfit more chic and polish. Let’s not forget how easy it is to move in this cut.  There is a vintage 60s chic attitude when wearing this trend, so add a structural bag. Also remember if the hemline is below the knee, don’t wear flats, pick a wedge or a pointy toe heel. 

From red to orange and every shade in between wearing a warm color is the hottest trend of the season.  Bill Blass said it best, “When in doubt, wear red.”  Warm colors are attention grabbers so if you are a bit shyer but still want to wear the trend, choose an accessory on this shades

Here is an important tip to wear these warm colors amazingly; if you are fair skin, choose bluer reds. For darker skin pick more spicy orange reds. 

 

Scarves are no longer a winter accessory only, now they are even a staple of summer. We have to admit

Far from your grandmother’s lace, this spring lace comes in many variety of colors, making the transition

of day to night simple.

 

One designer who was able to balance the elegance of the lace with a touch of chic flirt is Vera Wang.

Her play with bold colors gave the lace a strong playful look, on the other hand her whites and cream

looks keep the softness notorious with lace.

Floral for spring is a no brainer, but with the advance of modern technology floral prints are becoming a true artistic bliss. Many of our designers created their own modern floral or even earthy prints for their Spring collection. Thakoon for example choose to stay a bit more classic with a print of roses inside a cage, Rodarte’s version was a bit more earthy with prints of branches decorating a long skirt, and Jason Wu once again brought, amazing floral prints but this time in black and white.

We have no words to thank everyone for making our grand opening at our new home such an amazing event.  We are very excited and look forward to many more fun events and trunk shows.

For our grand opening we had the honor of welcoming one of our new designers, Sally LaPainte. We instantly fell in love with her cool down to earth approachable attitude.

LaPointe and her team showcased her Fall 2013 collection, recently shown at New York fashion week.  The inspiration for this collection was the song "In Your Room," by Depeche Mode.  The collection is dark and sultry just like the song. Another element that LaPointe played with was the element of revealing while concealing. She achieves this with strategic cut outs and open backs to outfits that at first look head to toe covered up.

This is a very sweet and pretty trend, perfect to welcome spring. The breeziness of this trend it makes a very sophisticated but at the same time easy to wear style for the warm weather.

Since this is a very soft trend (mostly made of neutrals, and soft pastel colors ) wear soft makeup and chose neutral or even metallic shoes.

Now it is our turn to celebrate our new home, and what a better way to celebrate than to welcome a new designer to our family.

Designer Sally LaPointe is an American ready-to-wear designer based out of New York City. LaPointe graduated from The Rhode Island School of design with a BFA in apparel design. She begin her line after graduating, and moving to New York City in 2006. LaPointe was recently named one of FORBES 30 Under 30 for 2013. Her line is currently in its fifth season

 

 

For her spring collection, Sally LaPointe was inspired by pictures of an abandoned and once secret underground submarine base in Balaklava. Most of her inspiration from her collection came from an image of a river running through the massive concrete structure struck the hard/soft, man/nature contrasted she wanted to explore.

We can't wait for our grand opening and to present our new designer Sally Lapointe
